Holly Kennedy (Hillary Swank) is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life-- a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. OK instead of reading something that a website wrote, I'll give you my general consensus on it:
Hilary Swank and her husband are madly in love. They have a great life together. However, he soon dies. Apparently, he set up a big chain of events for his wife if he ever died in order for her to successfully move on and have a great life without him, because that's what she wanted. After his death, she gets a series of letters, tape recordings, etc. telling her things to do to live her life to the fullest and move on. I also believe that she meets someone new.
I think it looks really cute and I plan on going to see it.
